Our Ministries

Children

We recognize that children are our future. Our children's ministry consists of weekly Sunday School classes from ages kindergarten through third grade and ages fourth grade through seventh. Throughout the year, we also hold field trips, Children's services, Summer Vacation Bible School (VBS), as well as, monthly "Children's Story" during the Worship service.

Youth

Our Youth Ministry consists of ages eigth grade through high school with weekly Sunday School classes and Bible Study. We also hold Friday LIFE and are involved in the planning of annual Summer and Thanksgiving camps with other regional churches.

Adult and Elder

Our Adult Ministry consists of middle-aged professionals and married couples while Elder Ministry is for older church members. We have weekly Sunday School Classes and Bible Study. Throughout the year, we also hold fellowships and special events.

Women's Missions

Our Womens Missions (WMU) group meets once every three months and seeks to reach out to women of all ages and backgrounds.

Cambodian Ministry

Once a month, we have a Bible study and fellowship dinner with a small group of Cambodian friends at one of the church members’ home. Children are also ministered through a separated session and activities. If you know any Cambodian living near our church or moving to Baton Rouge, please let us know by contacting Mrs. Sang Ly at 225-571-9151.

Our Pastors

Pastor Vinh T. Nguyen is currently Senior Pastor at Vietnamese Hope Baptist Church. When founding Pastor and Mrs. Hao retired and moved to Florida, Vinh Nguyen was called to lead and care for the church. In March of 1998, Rev. Vinh Trong Nguyen was officially called to be the pastor of the mission, and has been serving as pastor since. He is married to Mrs. Huyen Luong, and has three children: Timothy Nguyen, Lida Nguyen, and Samuel Nguyen.

Pastor Joel Hilbun

Pastor Emeritus Joel P. Hilbun was Senior Pastor at Vietnamese Hope Baptist Church from 2007-2020. He had been involved with it from its beginning in 1980 as a Bible class to help Vietnamese refugees to learn English. He is married to Mrs. Lurline Martin Hilbun and has three children, Joel David, Linda Kaye and Joy Carol. He served as pastor in one church in Mississippi and one in Alabama, and five in Louisiana as well as serving on the staff of the local Baptist association as Coordinator of Missions and Ministries.
